The Executive Mansion is the official residence of the governor. It hosts many official functions. The first party in the mansion was a dinner for 1,000 guests in the mid-1850s.

Antique Waterford crystal chandeliers hang over the long dining room table.


Several parlors on the second floor provide areas for guests to mingle during official events at the mansion.


These three pieces of furniture are part of a larger set that was hand carved by an Illinois farmer.


Note the short legs on this chair, one of a set once owned by the 5’4” Stephen A. Douglas. You can see his initials carved into the back of the chair.
